About Us

Our company was established in 1992 by Paul Robins who manufactured wood products and sold them exclusively wholesale.  In 1995, Paul was joined by Robbie Urbine whose background was in retail sales.  Together, in 1996, they opened their first retail site in Powhatan, Virginia.  In 1998 they opened the site on West Broad Street, followed by the Hull Street site in 1999.  The following year they added the blower truck division for installing mulch, compost, playground cover and erosion control products.  In 2000, Yard Works, Inc. merged with Grind-All.   Bill Stinson, owner of Grind-All, brought the ability to manufacture our own products as well as give growth potential to the company.  In 2001 the name of the marketing and retail sites was changed to Yard Works, Inc.

In 2003 Yard Works, Inc., expanded its erosion and sediment control business by adding three land disturbers to the staff and two VDOT certified erosion control contractors.  Yard Works, Inc. became central Virginia’s first Certified Filtrexx erosion control products retailer while also adding a storm water run-off program.

In 2006 Grind-All opened a new manufacturing site in Moseley, Virginia near Skinquarter.  An 80 acre wood recycling facility helped to serve the community and our customers.  Yard Works, Inc. also purchased a local equipment rental company and is now able to provide a full line of professional quality rental equipment.
